The modern world is a toxic place, and we’ve all become less healthy because of it, whether it is from the air that we breathe or the foods that we eat. Natasha Kyssa is a raw foods chef and lifestyle coach, and her company SimplyRaw helps people improve their health and well-being by integrating simple, natural-based guidelines into their current lifestyles. This informative and useful manual outlines Natasha’s twenty-eight-day detox program, which includes only raw and “living” foods (i.e., those that have been soaked, sprouted, and fermented). It is a gentle, effective method to cleanse the body of toxins and to provide optimal nourishment for healing. The author believes that we can heal ourselves naturally to mend the damage done to our bodies due to unhealthy environments and improper food choices.

Reading the preface to The Simply Raw Living Foods Detox Manual is enough to make a reader want to give detox a shot. Ms. Kyssa is obviously beautiful, as shown in the book’s photograph, but did not come to healthy living easily. Her prior battles with eating disorders, cigarette smoking and weight gain show that she knows what it’s like to succumb to unhealthy temptations and struggle with food-related addictions.
Her healthy lifestyle today is testament to the success of this program. Recipes in the back will appeal to readers who do not wish to commit to the full month’s system but would like to incorporate healthier raw foods into their diet. ―Suite101.com (2009/09/09)
For someone who loves to cook, Natasha Kyssa’s kitchen is strangely bereft of appliances. No stove. No microwave. No set of T-Fal frying pans…. What she cooks–if you can call it that–is raw…. Raw food has slowly gained credibility and followers, notably celebrities like Demi Moore and Sting. And they may be on to something. A 2005 study by the University of Washington School of Medicine found that when compared to those on the Standard American Diet, raw foodists had less chronic inflammation, lower cholesterol, and less IGF-1, a growth factor that, when elevated, is associated with increased risk of breast and prostate cancers. ―Ottawa Citizen (2009/09/01)
